TASEK GELUGOR: Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said Barisan Nasional (BN) will retake Tasek Gelugor which it lost through the defection of its former MP Shabudin Yahaya.
“I came to Tasek Gelugor because this seat is our (BN) seat, and it was stolen from us,” he said at an event here today.
“That is why I want to make sure that this seat returns to us (BN) in GE15. And looking at the crowd here today, I am confident Tasek Gelugor will be ours again.”
In the last election, BN won the Tasek Gelugor seat but its MP Shabudin Yahaya of Umno defected to Bersatu in 2019.
Meanwhile, Ismail also disputed claims that the RM95 billion development expenditure under Budget 2023 would only benefit tycoons, saying RM2.55 billion was allocated for rural development and infrastructure.
“Who will benefit from this budget? It is the G1 and G2 contractors, not tycoons,” he added.
On Budget 2023, Ismail said, he could not yet approve the funds allocated under the budget that was tabled prior to the dissolution of Parliament. However, he could do so if he is given the opportunity to form the new government after GE15.
