MIC will contest three parliamentary seats and three state legislative assembly seats in Perak in the 15th general election.
The matter was confirmed by the party's deputy president M Saravanan.
“MIC has identified three parliamentary seats and three state assembly seats) in Perak.
“We have completed almost 80 percent of the seat negotiations. There is still a little left.
“The list of seats will be announced by the party president (SA Vigneswaran) and the BN chairperson (Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) in the near future," Saravanan (above) said.
He said this after officiating the Employee Health and Information Programme Ceremony at the Kampung Batu 3 Community Centre in Temoh today.
However, Saravanan, who has held his Tapah parliamentary seat for three terms, did not reveal potential seats contested by the party.
It is understood that MIC will retain the two traditional parliamentary seats of Sungai Siput and Tapah.
It is expected that Vigneswaran will contest in Sungai Siput while Saravanan defends the Tapah seat.
Swapping seats
Meanwhile, the party agreed to replace the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat with Teluk Intan, after an agreement was recently struck with Umno.
For state seats, the BN component is expected to compete in Buntong, Sungkai and Behrang.
Meanwhile, Saravanan also did not rule out the possibility of a seat swap with other BN components.
“MIC is willing to accept for exchange.
“If we see that we can't and other components can, we are ready to discuss," he said.
