Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari never sought state ruler Sultan Sharuddin Idris Shah's consent to dissolve the State Legislative Assembly during his audience on Tuesday.
The Sultan's private secretary Munir Bani said this in a statement today to clarify 'inaccurate' news reports and social media messages on the state government's decision not to dissolve the state assembly.
"Actually, on Oct 11, the Selangor menteri besar did not request the Sultan of Selangor (above) to dissolve the state assembly but stated his desire for the current administration to continue governing the state.
"His majesty took notice of this and hoped that the agenda of developing Selangor will continue as planned, for the sake of the people," Munir said.
The media had previously reported that the sultan had assented to the state administration to continue governing, despite the dissolution of Parliament announced on Monday.
During the meeting, the ruler reportedly agreed for the state government to focus on efforts to ensure the people's well-being, and conduct preparations to deal with the possible flood situation and economic recovery efforts in the state. - Mkini
