IPOH: The Ipoh City Council (MBI) has called on owners of buildings, business premises, factories, firms and private residences within its administrative area to display the national flag in conjunction with the 69th National Day celebrations.
Ipoh mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah said the public is encouraged to display the Jalur Gemilang at their respective premises from Aug 1 to Sept 30 as part of the “Display the Jalur Gemilang Campaign’ (Kempen Kibar Jalur Gemilang).
“The Jalur Gemilang is a symbol of our love and pride for the country.
“This initiative will not only brighten the city but also serve as a manifestation of our love, pride and loyalty to the nation,” he said in a statement on Thursday (July 30).
Zamakhshari also encouraged premise owners to enhance the appearance of their surroundings through appropriate lighting, attractive landscaping and by ensuring their premises remain clean and well-maintained.
To ensure the flags are displayed correctly and respectfully, he said the public should adhere to the prescribed flag arrangement.
“For premises with two flagpoles, the national flag should be flown alongside the state flag.
“For premises with three flagpoles, the arrangement should be the state flag, the national flag and the institution’s or department’s flag, when viewed from outside the building,” he said.
He hoped that all parties would give their full support, commitment and cooperation in making the campaign a success.
He added that this year’s theme, ‘Malaysia Madani: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati’, reflects the nation’s continued commitment to strengthening unity, fostering patriotism and appreciating the independence enjoyed by all Malaysians.
“Let us come together to enliven the Merdeka celebrations and demonstrate the spirit of unity among the people of Ipoh.
“The City Council extends its appreciation gratitude to all parties for their support and cooperation in making the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations a success,” he said. - Star
