Zahid agrees with Anwar on putting aside differences after election

The BN chairman says competition during elections should not affect cooperation within the unity government at the federal level.

Barisan Nasional chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said BN would continue supporting Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister until the end of the government’s term.
JEMPOL:
Barisan Nasional chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says he agrees with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s suggestion that all parties in the unity government should strengthen ties once the Negeri Sembilan state election ends.

Zahid, who is deputy prime minister, said BN and the Anwar-led Pakatan Harapan remained part of the same federal coalition government despite contesting against each other in the Negeri Sembilan and Johor state elections.

“This is the uniqueness and beauty of democracy in Malaysia,” he said at a press conference after attending an election event in the Jeram Padang state constituency.

“We should rebuild our relationship because we are part of the same government in Putrajaya. To safeguard national interests, we must continue to stand together and strengthen the unity government,” he said.

Zahid said BN would continue fulfilling its commitment to supporting Anwar as prime minister until the end of the government’s term.

Earlier today, Anwar, who is PH chairman, urged Negeri Sembilan voters to put aside their differences after the election concludes. Noting that various views were voiced during the campaign, Anwar called on all parties to work together to maintain stability and continuity at the state level. - FMT
