Kapayan assemblyperson Chin Tek Ming is seeking a judicial review regarding Sabah assembly speaker Kadzim M Yahya’s decision-making process.
The decision in question occurred on April 29, when Kadzim rejected Chin’s private motion for the disclosure of the total of federal revenue collected from Sabah in the years 2022 to 2025, Chin said in a statement today.
Later, on May 19, Chin said he had written to Kadzim to provide a legal basis for the rejection, but he never received a response from the speaker.
Chin stressed that the application was neither personal nor an attempt to force the speaker to automatically accept his motion, but for the court to determine whether Kadzim’s decision was made lawfully.
A Malaysian pilot has been arrested in Jakarta for allegedly attempting to smuggle about 25kg of ecstasy, valued at Rp60 billion (RM13.6 million), after arriving on a flight from Kuala Lumpur, Bernama reported.
The local authorities allegedly discovered more than 70,000 ecstasy pills and over 4g of methamphetamine concealed in his luggage. They also believed he was flying under the influence of drugs while carrying about 170 passengers, as his urine sample tested positive for MDMA, methamphetamine, and cocaine.
They further alleged that he may be linked to an international trafficking syndicate and that this may be his third attempt to smuggle drugs into the country.
Indonesian investigators are working with Malaysian authorities, including the police, customs and civil aviation agencies, as they probe the wider network and possible cross-border links.
Malaysia Airlines said in a separate statement that it will cooperate with authorities and declined further comment. - Mkini
