A special Dewan Rakyat sitting to debate the report on the royal commission of inquiry into Tabung Haji will be convened on Aug 11, according to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Astro Awani quoted Anwar as saying that the sitting has been approved by Dewan Rakyat speaker Johari Abdul.
“Aug 11, special Parliament session. I have discussed, and the speaker (Johari) has agreed, (from) 10am until evening,” Anwar told reporters in Kuala Lumpur today.
The RCI report released last night revealed findings on various administrative and operational matters in Tabung Haji between 2014 and 2020, comprising 25 key recommendations.
The Myanmar Ethnic Rohingya Human Rights Organisation in Malaysia (MERHROM) has urgently appealed for Putrajaya to halt the deportation of 5,000 Rohingya refugees to Myanmar, reiterating concerns on the persecuted community’s safety.
In a statement today, MERHROM president Zafar Ahmad Abdul Ghani urged the Malaysian government to consult the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and Rohingya representatives before proceeding with its plan.

He also listed several proposed intervention measures for the prime minister, including establishing a durable solution for Rohingya refugees pending an end to the genocide against them.
The Home Ministry has begun identifying, documenting, and screening Rohingya refugees as part of preparations for their repatriation, with the process being carried out through the Refugee Registration Document.
According to Bernama, Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said that at the end of the process, individuals will receive a decision on their refugee status and documents will be issued to confirm their status.

Blogger Wan Azri Wan Deris, better known as Papagomo, has been ordered to enter his defence against a charge of publishing a false social media post.
He is accused of making a Facebook post on May 28, 2025, in which he alleged that 11 PKR MPs had withdrawn their support for Anwar. The charge is framed under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Wan Azri Wan Deris Bernama reported that Sepang Sessions Court judge Ahmad Fuad Othman said he is satisfied that the prosecution has proven all three elements of the charge based on witness testimony and documentary evidence.
He also rejected the defence’s argument that there was no conclusive evidence that Wan Azri had initiated the false communication.
The court has fixed Sept 1, 2, and 15 for the defence proceedings, while the judgment would be delivered on Oct 22. - Mkini
