PETALING JAYA: A Bangladeshi director of a company with a “Datuk” title has been nabbed by graft-busters over an application for migrant worker quotas for a non-existent project.
A source in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission said the suspect, in his 40s, had submitted two quota applications involving a total of 600 workers for a non-existent project.
“The two applications involved payment of about RM460,000 and RM650,000 in levies,” the source said.
The man was arrested at 9pm yesterday after having his statement recorded at the Selangor MACC office and is under remand until Nov 17.
The source said the suspect was believed to have applied for the quotas sometime in 2023.
Meanwhile, Selangor MACC director Alias Salim confirmed the arrest when contacted. - FMT
