Rina appointed Bersatu treasurer, Tun Faisal made info chief

 

Rina Harun is the former Wanita Bersatu chief, while Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz is the former Putrajaya Umno deputy chief.

PETALING JAYA: 

Bersatu has announced the appointment of two senior leaders for the 2024-2027 term, with former Wanita Bersatu chief Rina Harun and former Putrajaya Umno deputy chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz assuming key roles.

Effective today, Rina has been named the party’s new treasurer-general, while Tun Faisal takes on the role of information chief.

Confirming earlier media reports, Selangor Bersatu chairman Azmin Ali is also the party’s new secretary-general.

In a statement, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin said the appointments were made in accordance with Article 13.9 of the party’s constitution.

“I trust that they will carry out their duties as outlined in the Bersatu constitution with integrity, efficiency and responsibility,” he said.

Muhyiddin also expressed his gratitude to the outgoing office holders – Salleh Bajuri (former treasurer-general), Razali Idris (former information chief) and Hamzah Zainudin (former secretary-general) – for their contributions to the party.

It was previously reported that Rina Harun chose not to defend her position as Wanita Bersatu chief during the party elections on Nov 2. Mas Ermieyati Samsudin was elected unopposed for the post.

Separately, Azmin was initially reported to have declined Muhyiddin’s offer for the secretary-general position, citing his desire to focus on leading Selangor Perikatan Nasional in its mission to capture the state at the next election.

Azmin sat out Bersatu’s party elections, amid speculation that he was to take over from Hamzah as the new secretary-general.

Muhyiddin retained the Bersatu presidency uncontested in the party polls, while Hamzah faced no contest for the deputy president’s post. - FMT
