BANGKOK: Malaysia’s ambassador to Thailand, Jojie Samuel, was taken on a special tuk-tuk tour through the city today to mark the end of his tenure.
A convoy of more than 39 three-wheeler tuk-tuks embarked on a three-hour journey from Samuel’s official residence, passing landmarks such as the Mahanakhon Tower, Victory Monument, Dusit Palace, Grand Palace, Giant Swing, Bangkok’s bustling Chinatown, and Wat Arun.
The defence attache, Brig-Gen Samsul Rizal Musa, whose office organised the tour, described the event as a tribute to the ambassador’s tenure in Thailand.
More than 92 people took part, including embassy officials, their families, and members of the Malaysian community in Bangkok.
In his speech at the event, Samuel expressed gratitude for the support and collaboration he received during his tenure from “an exceptionally committed and cooperative team at the embassy”.
Samuel said he was also moved by the resilience, generosity, and kindness of the Thai people. - FMT
