PETALING JAYA: Almost 4,000 doctors, dentists and pharmacists have received permanent appointments in the national health service, the government said today.
The offer was made to 3,200 medical officers, 350 dentists and 400 pharmacists who applied for contract appointment with the health ministry and received permanent appointments from the Public Services Commission on Oct 21.
The candidates will receive postings from state health departments from Dec 23, the health ministry said. The ministry said it hopes the offer of permanent posts would drive the candidates to provide better services.
Candidates who wish to change their placement can do so from Nov 5-11 for medical officers and Nov 5-15 for dental and pharmacy officers.
Appeals would be considered if candidates are currently undergoing specialist studies approved by the ministry; have serious health problems (supported by a medical report); or have applied for exchange programmes.
Appeals will also be considered if the candidates’ spouse or children suffer from serious health problems.
Candidates will be notified if their appeals are successful on Dec 2. - FMT
