Federal Court judge Hasnah Hashim is set to become the next chief judge of Malaya.
The third highest post of the judiciary has been vacant since Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah retired in February.
According to Free Malaysia Today, Hasnah, 65, is likely to receive her appointment letter from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara tomorrow.
She will take her oath of office on the same day before Akhtar Tahir, the most senior High Court judge.
Under Article 122B of the Federal Constitution, all judicial appointments are made by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong - on the advice of the prime minister after consulting the Conference of Rulers.
Hasnah will be the third woman to occupy the third highest post in the judiciary after Siti Norma Yaakob (2005-2007) and Zaharah Ibrahim (2018-2019).
She was appointed judicial commissioner in 2010 and served at the Kuala Lumpur High Court.
She was made High Court judge on April 4, 2012, and elevated to Court of Appeal judge on March 21, 2016.
Hasnah, the third most senior judge after Justices Nallini Pathmanathan and Zabariah Yusof, was sworn in as a Federal Court judge on Dec 5, 2019. - Mkini
