Shah Alam police chief says all the suspects had a criminal record, with between seven and 31 previous cases related to crime and drugs.

Shah Alam police chief Ramsay Embol said the operations were carried out by the Shah Alam police headquarters’ criminal investigation division after news of the theft of Telekom Malaysia cables in Section 2 went viral online, Bernama reported.
“All the suspects, aged between 26 and 40, were arrested during the six-day operation from May 4-9. Checks revealed they all had a criminal record, with between seven and 31 previous cases related to crime and drugs.
“Urine screening tests conducted during the arrests also found that four members of the group tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he was quoted as saying.
Ramsay said police also seized a Nissan Navara and various tools used by the suspects to cut cables, in addition to three rolls of cable belonging to the telecommunications company.
He urged those with information related to the case to contact investigating officer Amirul Zulkifli at 012-5583436 to assist in investigations. - FMT
