In light of the MACC investigations involving former economy minister Rafizi Ramli, Hanipa Maidin highlighted the Pandan MP’s resilience and cautioned his political rivals against underestimating him.
“It would be wise to tread carefully. After all, Rafizi is known for having a strong hand and may still have several strategic 'cards' left to play.
“Many believe Rafizi (above) remains a resilient figure against his political detractors.
“Ergo, his opponents should remain cautious, as he likely possesses significant political leverage and strategic options to counter any challenges,” the former deputy law minister said in a statement.
Hanipa was commenting on remarks by MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki, who said two individuals had been identified for possible criminal charges linked to investigations into a RM1.1 billion semiconductor deal with UK-based Arm Holdings.
Although no names were mentioned, speculation is rife that Rafizi could be among those charged, with the former minister himself believing he may eventually be brought to court over the matter.

Noting Rafizi’s confidence, Hanipa said it would not be easy to sideline the PKR deputy president despite the MACC probe.
“MACC probes and possible legal charges may not be enough to sideline Rafizi,” he added.
Mark on Rafizi over criticism
Yesterday, former DAP lawmaker Ong Kian Ming suggested Rafizi had become a target of investigation because of his criticisms of the government and the MACC.

"I do not think that Rafizi would have been called up by the MACC and 'grilled' if he had not resigned from the cabinet and started to highlight some of the gaps in the government, especially with regard to issues to do with MACC itself, notably the chief commissioner.
"The Arm deal may not have been the best negotiated deal in Malaysian history, but I do not think that either Rafizi or his (former) special officer, James Chai, received any monetary benefits as a result of the signing of the Arm deal with the government," he said. - Mkini
