KUALA LUMPUR:
Traffic flow on major highways was slow and congested this evening with an increase in vehicles ahead of the school holidays and National Day long weekend.

A spokesman for the Malaysian Highway Authority said northbound traffic on the E1 North-South highway was moving slowly from Sungai Buloh towards Bukit Beruntung; Bukit Tagar to Lembah Beringin; Sungkai to Simpang Pulai; Changkat Jering to Taiping Utara; Bukit Merah to Bandar Baharu; and Permatang Pauh towards Bertam.

Southbound traffic on the E2 was congested from Bangi towards Southville, and from Nilai Utara to Pedas Linggi.

Traffic bound for the East Coast on the KL-Karak highway was slow from the Gombak toll plaza towards Genting Sempah and from Lentang towards Bentong. Some congestion was reported from Lanchang to Temerloh following flood mitigation repair works.

The number of vehicles on the highways has been increasing drastically since yesterday evening and early this morning. Slow traffic flow is expected to continue until late tonight.

Traffic flow on the West Coast Expressway was reported to be smooth in both directions. - FMT
