A Malacca-based apparel supplier has apologised over a Jalur Gemilang-themed shirt worn by Kedah Menteri Besar Sanusi Nor that featured a 13-point star instead of the correct 14.
Ne Creative Venture said it took the matter seriously and acknowledged that all elements of the national flag should be depicted accurately.
“However, the insufficient number of points on the star has become an issue, and the company apologises and promises to ensure that the same mistake will not happen again,” the company said in a letter uploaded to social media today.
Although the letter was signed, it did not identify the signatory.
The company explained that the design had been printed based on an artwork file it received and underwent a technical tracing process during production.
It said the mistake occurred after it handled additional last-minute orders, which resulted in a less thorough quality control process.

“Therefore, we openly apologise to the Kedah Menteri Besar’s Office for this technical defect and take full responsibility to ensure that immediate corrections are made,” it said.
Netizens spot mistake
Images of Sanusi wearing the shirt at an event went viral on social media after netizens noticed that the star on the Jalur Gemilang design had only 13 points.
The mistake drew online criticism, with some users also invoking the name of Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh, who has previously been vocal about the mishandling of the Jalur Gemilang, particularly in incidents involving Pakatan Harapan-led states.

Malaysiakini has contacted Sanusi and Akmal for comment and is awaiting their responses.
Meanwhile, the Darul Aman Information Secretariat said Sanusi wore the shirt yesterday at the Merdeka Boat Parade and Jalur Gemilang Flying Programme held in conjunction with the 69th National Day celebrations.
The event was jointly organised by the Anak Bukit and Suka Menanti state constituency service centres.
Nearly 100 boats took part in the parade from Kampung Alor Madi to the Kedah State Museum while flying the Jalur Gemilang. - Mkini
