Kelantan PKR reps no-show at swearing-in ceremony

Three PKR members appointed by the Kelantan government as members of the Pasir Puteh District Council did not turn up for their swearing-in ceremony today.
This was confirmed by state cabinet member Abdul Fattah Mahmood, according to PAS-organ HarakahDaily.
The trio are among 37 PKR members who have been allocated seats in Kelantan's 12 local governments.
A week ago, PKR had ordered all its members to relinquish all political appointments in Kelantan, following PAS' decision to sever ties with PKR.
According to Abdul Fattah, the state government has yet to receive any written notice from PKR members wishing to resign from their positions.
"Up until now, we have not received anything in black and white, including from PKR members who have already taken their oath (in some local governments)," he said.
He said that the state government was still open to having PKR members on board and hoped that they would continue to serve at least until the next general election.
"To us, as long as it is not in writing, those appointments are still valid," he said.

PAS' annual delegates assembly had resolved to cut ties with PKR on grounds that the the latter had supported Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) during two by-elections last year.
PKR was also accused of having reservations about PAS' attempts to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 (Act 355), among others.
Although PKR had asked their members in Kelantan to resign from government positions, PAS has yet to ask its members to do the same in Selangor, which is currently being led by PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali.- Mkini
