MCA Youth warns of those stirring racial unrest over TN50 slap

MCA Youth has cautioned all against those "trying to stir racial sentiments" over the slapping incident at the Transformasi Nasional 2050 (TN50) dialogue last week.
Comedian Sulaiman Yassin accused filmmaker David Teo of insolence and slapped him during a dialogue on TN50 with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak at the PM's official residence.
"It is wrong for Sulaiman to slap anyone, but he has learnt his lesson.
"People should move on from it and stop fanning the flames.
"Instead we should be careful of those parties trying to stir up racial sentiments, for they have vested intentions that would not help the country," MCA Youth secretary-general Leong Kim Soon said in a statement.
This comes after an NGO held a demonstration in front of Teo's office in Petaling Jaya demanding an apology over the incident.
Members of the group had previously been seen demonstrating alongside Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos.
A police report was also lodged against Teo, but Leong said Teo has nothing to be sorry about.
"He was slapped but made to apologise. Those demanding him to do so are not able to differentiate between right and wrong!" he said.
He said the issue had been resolved on the same night after Sulaiman and Teo made peace and Teo had expressed willingness not to pursue the matter further.
He also lauded Teo's decision not to take legal action against Sulaiman.
Sulaiman, who is better known as Mat Over, however said he has no regrets.
Teo had before the slapping incident raised his voice to complain that moderator Rosyam Nor was only taking questions from one side of the hall.
He was then handed the microphone to speak but just as he was about to complete his pantun, Sulaiman dashed over from the other side of the venue to slap him.

Teo managed to parry the blow with his hand and tried to kick Sulaiman, but missed.
Security personnel separated the two as the incident was broadcast live on Facebook, while Najib stood motionless on stage.
He later advised the duo to make peace and hug, and said it was "all good now".- Mkini
