PETALING JAYA: Two Federal ministers have posted “farewell” messages in the wake of Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s resignation as prime minister earlier today.
In a tweet, Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad gave an update on the Covid-19 case before writing: “This is my last tweet as the health minister. Thank You.”
In the WhatsApp group set up by his ministry for media practitioners, a press statement on the Covid-19 was shared, along with a message by Dzulkefly’s press secretary that it was to be his final public service announcement.
Meanwhile, Agriculture and Agro-Based Minister Salahuddin Ayub said his tenure in the ministry has come to an end.
In a statement, Salahuddin said he had tried his best to fight for the welfare of farmers and fishermen in the past one year and eight months and apologised for any shortcomings.
“I pray for a brighter future for all of you and will continue to champion your cause even though I am no longer in government.”
Mahathir submitted his resignation letter to the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong at 1pm following a meeting with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim this morning.
Lawyer Bastian Pius Vendargon told FMT that there is now no government as the Cabinet ceased to exist following Mahathir’s resignation. - FMT
