While Pahang DAP chapter is still abuzz with incumbent Bentong MP Wong Tack’s plan to contest there as an independent after being dropped by the party, its colleagues over in Perak are expected to be delivering a “surprise” tomorrow.
Perak DAP chairperson Nga Kor Ming revealed that the party’s top brass will be announcing its list of candidates for the 15th general election (GE15) for the state at 7:30pm at Hotel Kinta Riverfront, Ipoh tomorrow.
Nga (above) divulged that DAP will contest an additional seat each for both parliamentary and state levels, totalling eight parliamentary seats and 19 state assembly seats.
“We will be contesting 27 seats in total. This is the most seats that DAP will be contesting in Perak, over the past 20 years.
“We have added one seat each on the parliamentary and state level,” the incumbent Teluk Intan MP said after attending the Pesta Lei Cha with the Khantan residents in Chemor, Perak.
However, he held his cards close to his chest on the matter, merely saying, “we might be making a surprise announcement tomorrow.”
“This time around, we will be fielding high-quality and highly educated candidates who are willing to sacrifice.
“They are young and energetic candidates as well.”
Nga added that party secretary-general Anthony Loke will also be present at the event tomorrow to make the announcement.
In the 2018 national polls, DAP won in all seven parliamentary seats - Ipoh Timor, Ipoh Barat, Kampar, Batu Gajah, Teluk Intan, Beruas and Taiping it contested and 18 state seats.
However, it lost three to defections later on. - Mkini
