KUALA LUMPUR: Telecommunications company Maxis Bhd has appointed Goh Seow Eng as its chief executive from Dec 1. He will take over from Gokhan Ogut, whose term ends on Nov 30.
In a statement today, Maxis chairman Mokhzani Mahathir said Goh would join Maxis as CEO-designate on Nov 1 before officially taking over from Ogut.
He said Goh has vast experience in the telco industry with a solid track record in mobile and fibre broadband, fixed-line business and digital services.
Mokhzani said Ogut had led the company through a challenging and uncertain time, “largely driven by the Covid-19 pandemic, which needed innovative solutions and decisions,” he said.
Goh was previously the president and chief operating officer of Advanced Info Service in Thailand, where he oversaw the company’s expansion into the fibre broadband market as well as the enterprise business.
He was previously the managing director of Singapore Telecommunications Ltd’s home business and CEO of the entertainment division of Tanjong plc in Malaysia. - FMT
