PETALING JAYA: Fire destroyed a building containing a pharmaceutical storage unit at Papar hospital, 38km from Kota Kinabalu, tonight while a laboratory room sustained minor heat damage.
No casualties have been reported so far. A video circulated on social media showed hospital staff evacuating patients from wards next to the burning building.
Sabah firefighters responded to a distress call at about 7pm, and work to extinguish the fire was continuing, the fire and rescue department said, according to Bernama.
Teams from the Papar and Kimanis fire stations were tackling the blaze, the department said.
In a post on X tonight, health minister Dzulkefly Ahmad said no deaths were reported, and patients were successfully evacuated, including to nearby hospitals. - FMT
