Police arrested five Malaysians aged 22 to 30 after a brawl in Kuala Lumpur which resulted in three people being slashed with a switchblade.
Dang Wangi police chief Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said a member of the public alerted the cops at 4.03am on Sunday about a fight that had broken out in front of a building at Jalan Yap Kwan Seng.
He said the brawl erupted after a misunderstanding between four to five men, which led to one of them brandishing a switchblade and slashing three victims.
“The first victim suffered wounds and slashes on his left arm, the second victim was slashed on his face from his eyebrow to his lips, while the third victim suffered a wound on his head and required 10 stitches,” he said in a statement.
He said the case is being probed under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon, punishable by up to 20 years’ jail, a fine, caning, or a combination of any two.
The five suspects will be remanded today. - FMT
