
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning, with heavy rain and strong winds expected across nine states in Peninsular Malaysia, as well as parts of Sabah and Sarawak, until 9pm on Wednesday (Dec 3).
According to the department, the weather was expected to affect Perak, Selangor, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka.
Similar conditions are also expected in Kelantan, affecting the districts of Jeli and Gua Musang; in Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu, Dungun, and Kemaman); and in Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Maran, Kuantan, and Rompin).
"…similar weather is expected in Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai, and Johor Bahru), Sarawak (Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, including Pakan, Sarikei, and Julau, Sibu including Kanowit, Kapit, and Bintulu including Sebauh), and in Sabah, Sandakan (Tongod)," according to the thunderstorm warning issued by MetMalaysia on Wednesday.
Earlier, MetMalaysia issued a yellow-level continuous rain alert, forecasting persistent rainfall across several states in Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, and Sabah from Dec 5 to 8. – Bernama
