UMNO AGM | An Umno Youth delegate has raised concerns over the presence of “si kitol” (treacherous figures) within the party, suggesting that some members are taking orders from a different leader.
Without naming anyone, Helmi Elias described the problem as a new “illness”, where certain party members act as spokespersons for other parties.
Using a ship as a metaphor, he emphasised that, as crew members, they must take orders from only one captain - Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
“I liken our journey to a ship sailing through stormy seas. For us, Umno Youth, our captain is only the president.
“We sail with this captain and follow only his orders. As crew, if the ship is sinking or leaking, we must inform that the ship is leaking, that it is sinking - surely we wouldn’t just clap our hands and sit around while the ship is going down,” he said while debating the president’s policy speech at the Umno general assembly.
Helmi added that what saddened him most was the presence of party members who purportedly took orders from leaders of other parties.
“What is upsetting us today is that some among us, even while on this ship together, are listening to the captain of another ship. This saddens us.
“How can we sail together on this ship and yet follow the orders of another ship’s captain? There must not be any traitors in our party. I repeat, there must not be any traitors in our party,” he said. - Mkini
