KOTA BARU: Pas is hoping the internal crisis in Bersatu will be resolved amicably to ensure the continued strength of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.
Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the party is closely monitoring the situation and believes any decision by Bersatu's leadership should be guided by fairness and the greater good.
"In any party, actions taken must consider the interests of all members and ensure justice. We are hoping for the best outcome because Bersatu is our coalition partner in PN.
"If a component party is weak, the coalition itself cannot be strong," he said after attending a Chinese New Year celebration here last night.
Takiyuddin, who is also Kota Baru member of parliament, stressed that unity among leaders is crucial for the stability of any organisation.
"Internal issues should be resolved through proper channels. The strength of an organisation depends on leadership solidarity and the support of the people. If it cannot be resolved immediately, we will wait and continue to hope for the best," he added.
Takiyuddin's comments followed reports that Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin has been summoned to appear before the party's disciplinary board this Thursday.
Hamzah, who is also the Opposition Leader, is expected to assist in investigations into allegations of his involvement in disruptions during the party's Annual General Assembly and verbal attacks on president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He is scheduled to provide his statement at noon at the Bersatu headquarters. - NST
