KUALA LUMPUR: A man's breaking fast nearly turned into a medical emergency when a pulut panggang he bought at a Ramadan bazaar in Kedah allegedly contained an unexpected "filling" — a screw.
The incident occurred on Thursday, according to a video uploaded on TikTok by user Affendy02.
"One in 1,000. I nearly choked on a screw while breaking fast earlier. Luckily, while chewing the pulut udang (pulut panggang), I felt it and bit into the screw.
"If it's a staple wire, that's quite common to hear about. I hope bazaar traders will be more careful about foreign objects like this. It could really harm someone," he said in the post.
The video drew various reactions from TikTok users, with some speculating that the screw may have come from a coconut-grating machine.
"Might be from the coconut machine's screw," commented user Rajasalleh3.
User aiy7875 joked that it could have been a free gift.
"Maybe the screw was a free gift. Like milk. Recently I bought milk and got a free airtight container," she said.
Meanwhile, user Zul GP urged the man to meet the vendor and inform them.
"If something like this happens, return it to the seller the next day and advise them. Let them know," he said. - NST
