Caprice offers flowers, LOD to Rafizi as 'peace offering'

Local rapper Ariz Ramli, better known as Caprice, decided to “make peace” with Rafizi Ramli in a peculiar way after the latter threatened the former with legal action over corruption allegations against the ex-minister.

While offering flowers in the “peace deal”, Caprice (above) also sent a letter of demand to Rafizi, seeking among others, the latter’s apology.

Speaking at a press conference today, Caprice’s counsel Rezan Ezra Mosinal said the letter had been sent to Rafizi via email at 2.30pm today.

He said the email outlined three demands: for Rafizi to withdraw his posting on Caprice, to delete all such postings, and to publicly apologise to the artiste.

If Rafizi fails to do all of these by 5pm today, they will escalate the legal action against him, Rezan added.

Currently, Rafizi is being investigated in two separate cases. The first involves a government deal with British semiconductor giant Arm Holdings, where he is accused of rushing through an agreement that allegedly cost RM1.1 billion.

The second allegation concerns a large solar energy project by UEM Lestra, in which he is accused of steering a contract worth RM2.5 billion to a company with ties to him.

Rafizi has denied any wrongdoing and described the allegations as exaggerated and politically motivated.

He argued that the timing of the MACC probe against him is a form of intimidation following his call for the suspension of MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki in response to allegations reported by Bloomberg.

The Pandan MP also criticised what he described as a smear campaign by Caprice and has threatened legal action against the defamatory statements if no apology is made.

‘Love for country’

Meanwhile, Caprice defended his questions on the alleged financial misconduct during Rafizi's time as the economy minister.

He stressed there was nothing wrong about seeking clarification and explanations on such things, saying his actions were based on his love for the country.

Caprice added that he researched each issue he spoke on, and that fact-checking processes were carried out before he made any social media posts regarding such matters.

"I ordered flowers for Rafizi, so I'm opening my arms to him. If Rafizi is willing, I'm ready to make peace with him.

"I bought you flowers today. The flowers might last seven days before they wilt, so I hope in these seven days, we can make peace," he added. - Mkini
