PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang today hinted that leaders of two rival factions in Bersatu had met him to present their side of the internal turmoil that imploded with the sacking of Larut MP Hamzah Zainudin and 16 others.
The Marang MP, however, declined to reveal whether the former Bersatu deputy president had requested to join PAS.
“All parties met me. Hamzah’s side met me, Muhyiddin (Yassin)’s side also met me. All came to see me,” Hadi (above) told reporters in Rusila, Terengganu.
Asked about speculations surrounding Hamzah’s plan to form a new party or take over a dormant entity, Hadi said, “That’s up to him.”
“Most importantly, we want to save Perikatan Nasional first, because PAS is of the view that if we want to administer the country, it must involve all parties,” he said when pressed for PAS’ support of a new party led by Hamzah.

On Feb 13, Hamzah shared a photograph of himself and several others having tea with Hadi at the latter’s home, several hours after Bersatu’s disciplinary committee delivered its rulings.
“Alhamdulillah. Having tea in Rusila. Allah SWT is the best planner,” said Hamzah, who was joined at the time by other sacked Bersatu leaders, Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Indera Mahkota MP Saifuddin Abdullah.
Also present was Bersatu vice-president Ronald Kiandee, who has openly backed Hamzah but has so far been spared disciplinary action.
A day after Hamzah’s sacking, Muhyiddin chaired a Bersatu supreme council meeting that named two other vice-presidents, Ahmad Faizal Azumu and Radzi Jidin, to jointly act as the deputy presidents.
More meetings
On Wednesday, Radzi similarly posted a photo of him meeting Hadi at the latter’s home with a one-word caption: “Alhamdulillah.”
Also present were PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, Hadi’s political secretary, Bachok MP Syahir Sulaiman, and Terengganu Bersatu chief Razali Idris.
Yesterday, Razali posted a photo of himself and Muhyiddin at the Pagoh MP’s home, with the caption “Alhamdulillah Done!”

Previously, Takiyuddin insisted that Hadi’s Rusila home is open to all parties and that PAS will not take sides in Bersatu’s internal turmoil.
Hadi further said today that the PAS central committee meeting on Sunday - ahead of a PN extraordinary supreme council meeting later that day - will decide on candidates for both the PN chairperson’s post vacated by Muhyiddin and the opposition leader’s post held by Hamzah.
“We do have intentions to take over PN,” said Hadi, who was previously at odds with Muhyiddin over the federal opposition’s leadership direction.
Both meetings will be held at the PAS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, with all party presidents, including those from Gerakan and Malaysian Indian People's Party, expected to attend. - Mkini
