The tyre was believed to have fallen from a lorry, says Penang police chief Dennis Lim.

Penang police chief Dennis Lim said the 40-year-old victim, who was with the Perlis police headquarters, died at the scene from severe head injuries.
He said police received a report at 6am about the accident involving a car and a motorcycle.
The car, travelling from Juru towards Seberang Jaya, was believed to have struck a tyre lying in the middle of the road.
The car lost control and veered onto the left shoulder of the road, while the motorcycle ridden by the policeman, which was travelling in the same direction, hit the tyre, causing the rider to fall and be dragged along the road, Bernama reported him as saying.
The car’s driver and two passengers were injured and sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital for treatment.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving, and police are tracking down the lorry owner. - FMT
