The issue of Suhakam’s access to prisons, detention centres, and police lock-ups is expected to be addressed in a government announcement soon, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) M Kulasegaran said.
Kulasegaran said Harapan has been mulling the issue since its days in opposition, adding that Suhakam must be allowed fewer barriers to access detention centres and other such locations.
In response to a question from Teresa Kok (Harapan-Seputeh), he told the Dewan Rakyat today that Putrajaya is in discussions with government agencies and stakeholders.
Flood mitigation
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh urged all governments and elected representatives to protect flood mitigation areas.

Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh She stressed that a repeat of the 2016 degazettement of land reserved for a flood retention pond in Kuala Lumpur to make way for a 32ha mixed development must be prevented, adding that land reserved for public infrastructure must be safeguarded.
“Every elected representative bears a major responsibility to ensure the government’s decision to gazette areas for flood retention ponds must be upheld. We must be aggressive in safeguarding all decisions,” she added. - Mkini
