Funding not for you, but the people, Anwar tells Subang, PJ MPs

The prime minister says the Subang constituency has another allocation of RM1.6 million, and Petaling Jaya RM3 million, which will be used for projects to benefit the people.

After Subang MP Wong Chen and Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung were denied access to the MyKhas portal, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said there is no basis for any politician to say that there is no funding.
PETALING JAYA:
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has reiterated that the barring of the Subang and Petaling Jaya MPs’ access to the online portal that manages special funding does not mean their constituents will miss out on approved development projects.

Anwar said the Subang and Petaling Jaya parliamentary constituencies would continue to benefit from projects approved under the previous budget.

“The Subang parliamentary seat has another allocation of RM1.6 million. Petaling Jaya has RM3 million. I will ensure that we process and select applications for schools, houses of worship, and whatever else that is necessary.

“So, there is no basis for any politician to say that there is no funding. We have the money; we are not giving it to you, but to the people,” he said at an event here today.

In May, PKR’s Subang MP Wong Chen and Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung were barred from accessing the MyKhas portal.

Both were among those who attended the May 17 launch of Parti Bersama Malaysia, led by former PKR leaders Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

In June, the Prime Minister’s Department said its implementation and coordination unit would directly channel and manage parliamentary allocations to Subang and Petaling Jaya to ensure their constituents’ needs are met.

Government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil also said that barring Wong and Lee from accessing the MyKhas portal does not affect their rights or functions as elected representatives.

He said the allocations channelled through the platform are special funds under the prime minister’s purview, separate from the MPs’ parliamentary facilities and entitlements. -  FMT
