'Kasi bungkus' Loke in Chennah, Zahid tells voters

 

N SEMBILAN POLLS | BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi this evening called on Chennah constituents to vote out DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke in the state polls.

Speaking at a campaign event in Simpang Durian, he said the incumbent had been given ample time to develop the area, having served as its representative for three consecutive terms.

Zahid urged the voters to give a chance to BN candidate Siow Kong Choon, otherwise known as John Siow, to bring development to Chennah.

“Siow is the new hope for Chennah. He will win Chennah and bring development to the constituency,” he told the attendees.

“Hidup BN! Menang BN! Let’s wrest Chennah, kasi bungkus itu orang (let’s send Loke packing),” Zahid said in his war cry.

The deputy prime minister then told Siow that if BN wrests the seat from Loke, Siow has three years to turn Chennah around.

Chennah is seeing a straight fight between Loke, representing Pakatan Harapan, and Siow from MCA.

Loke, who is transport minister, first won the seat when he defeated MCA’s Siow Foo Wen in 2013, and has defended it twice since.

In his speech, Zahid further asserted that toppling Loke in Chennah would strongly indicate BN’s chances of wresting Negeri Sembilan from Harapan.

“My reading is that if we wrest Chennah, it means we will wrest Negeri Sembilan for BN.

“Likewise, if we retain Linggi, Negeri Sembilan will definitely be under BN,” he said.

BN is defending the Linggi seat from caretaker menteri besar Aminuddin Harun, who has moved from his Sikamat seat.

Meanwhile, during the event, Zahid hinted that Negeri Sembilan Umno chief Jalaluddin Alias is BN’s candidate for menteri besar.

He said the coalition has many quality leaders who can lead the state and does not need a poster boy for the polls.  - Mkini
