Who will be PH's MB if Aminuddin loses, asks Asyraf

KUALA PILAH: Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has challenged Pakatan Harapan (PH) to name its Menteri Besar candidate if caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun fails to win the Linggi seat in the Negri Sembilan election.

Asyraf questioned PH's succession plan, claiming Aminuddin had moved from Sikamat to contest in Linggi due to declining support in his previous constituency.

"The question should be directed at them. Who will be PH's Menteri Besar if Tok Min (Aminuddin) loses?

"He left Sikamat because the people there were unhappy with his service. He thinks Linggi will be easy, but we believe otherwise," he said during the Chillax With DAWD programme here today.

He claimed Barisan Nasional (BN) had no shortage of leadership options, saying the coalition had "10 Menteri Besar candidates", unlike PH, which he said would face uncertainty if Aminuddin was defeated.

Asyraf also expressed confidence that cooperation between BN and Perikatan Nasional (PN) would boost BN's chances in Linggi, citing Pas leaders campaigning for the coalition's candidate.

"If we win Linggi and Tok Min loses, PH must answer who its Menteri Besar candidate will be. Is it going to be DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke?" he said.

He added that the BN-PN electoral understanding had created a new political dynamic in Negri Sembilan and could help the coalition secure a two-thirds majority.

Rejecting PH's claim that Negri Sembilan remained its stronghold, Asyraf said BN was riding on the momentum of its recent victory in Johor.

"On Aug 1, we will prove that BN can form the state government here," he said. - FMT
