IT IS interesting to observe that Malaysia is a car-loving nation despite our extensive, and high quality public transports, take for example, the rail transits.
And all that love also translates to more cars on the road, and incidentally, the lack of parking spots.
So Malaysians in Kuala Lumpur are well aware of this double parking phenomenon which is as much a nuisance as it is an eye sore.
But sometimes, nuisance can turn into a nightmare very quickly especially when it involves a driver without basic common sense.
Take it from a video on X by netizen @kamaghul where a white car could be seen blocking the entire lane in a very busy street in central KL. Any other vehicle could have passed without difficulty.
However, it was a double decker bus that was attempting to navigate the narrow lane. The heavy vehicle quickly became stuck, resulting in a long pile up of traffic along the lane, similar to a car accident.
Netizens who observed the video have much to say about it too.
According to @heyzmblink, he would just take a photo of the car and proceed to hit it from behind.
Also, @nor_md111 claimed the buses in other countries will simply bang those vehicles that park against the law.
Then there was @xordy who suggested a revolutionary idea of giving the towing services to private companies so the work could be done, and quickly too.
However, @chiafook2013 blamed it on the bus driver, believing that he could maneuver the bus away from the double-parking vehicle.
Whether you blame the double-parked car or the bus driver, one thing is certain: the real winner was the person selling snacks nearby, because that traffic jam probably lasted long enough for everyone to get hungry.
Whatever the solution, one thing is clear. In Kuala Lumpur, a single illegally parked car can achieve what rush hour, roadworks and heavy rain sometimes cannot, bringing traffic to a complete standstill, all without even turning on its engine.— Focus Malaysia
