JELEBU:
Barisan Nasional plans to appoint a special officer to represent the Orang Asli community in the office of the Negeri Sembilan menteri besar if BN forms the state government after next week’s election, BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.

He said the state governments of Pahang and Perak had already created such a post, and also suggested that the Johor government should consider appointing such a special officer as the state has a large Orang Asli community.

Zahid was speaking after a gathering with the Negeri Sembilan Orang Asli community in Kampung Tohor, Kenaboi in Jelebu. He said the proposed post was aimed at ensuring the voices and needs of the Orang Asli community can be channelled directly to the state government.

“This does not need to be included in the BN manifesto. It can be implemented administratively. This is their request, and I feel that it should be answered,” he said at a press conference.

Polling takes place on Aug 1 to elect 36 members to the state assembly, with early voting taking place on July 28. - FMT
