Aminuddin to Tok Mat: Ribbons I cut brought jobs, investments to Negri Sembilan

SEREMBAN: Caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has hit back at Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan over the latter's "cutting ribbons" remark regarding his leadership.

Aminuddin, who is also the state Pakatan Harapan chairman, defended the "ribbons" he cut during his two terms leading the state administration, saying they represented job opportunities and new investments brought into the state.

He said the opening ceremonies he attended involved the launch of industrial areas that created employment opportunities for the people, rather than merely the opening of community halls.

"Yesterday, Tok Mat said I only spent two terms cutting ribbons. It is up to Tok Mat.

"The ribbons I cut were for the opening of industrial areas and factories that created job opportunities," he said here today.

Aminuddin acknowledged Mohamad as a great leader, but stressed that the issue of "cutting ribbons" should not be used as election campaign material, as there were many other matters that would bring greater benefits to the people during the election.

He said the development enjoyed by the state and the country today was the result of efforts carried out gradually by previous leaders, with each leader having made their own contributions and sacrifices.

"I thank them. There was indeed a foundation that had been laid. Tan Sri Rais Yatim and Tan Sri Isa Samad also made sacrifices, as did Tok Mat. I am merely continuing the struggle and legacy that has been built," he said.

Aminuddin said the continuity of development was achieved through the contributions of different leaders, although their approaches might differ, with the ultimate objective being to bring progress to the people and the state.

He said he would not be disheartened if his services and contributions were not remembered by the people, instead leaving his deeds and responsibilities to be judged accordingly.

It was reported that Mohamad had claimed development in Negri Sembilan had stalled after BN lost power in 2018.

The former Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar had also said that despite the state's proximity to Kuala Lumpur, the airport and Port Klang, there was little to show in terms of development.

"Two terms of work amounted to just cutting ribbons, with no real changes," Mohamad was quoted as saying. - NST
