Ex-Negeri MB's bid to strike out Streram's suit fixed on Aug 8

Umno deputy president and former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Mohamad Hasan's application to strike out the election petition filed by PKR candidate for Rantau Dr S Streram has been fixed on Aug 8.
The date was fixed by Seremban election judge Azimah Omar during a case management today.
When contacted, Streram's lawyer Rafique Rashid Ali told Malaysiakini that the Election Commission and its returning officer Amino Agus Suyub are now represented by lawyers from Messrs Shearn Delamore.
It is understood that Mohamad was seeking to strike out the suit on the grounds that Streram allegedly did not fulfil the residency requirement and the petition did not adhere to certain legal conditions.
However, Rafique said they have filed an affidavit-in-reply on the striking out application.
EC's lawyer Satya Kumardas said they would also object to the petition.
It was reported that Streram named Mohamad, Amino, and the EC as respondents in his suit, claiming that he was wilfully obstructed and thereafter systematically deprived of submitting his nomination papers for the Rantau state seat in the 14th general election.

Rafique also informed that Justice Azimah fixed Aug 8 to hear an amendment to the Jempol election petition where he is representing Bersatu's Kamarulzaman Kamdias, who had named BN MP Mohd Salim Sharif, the returning officer and EC as respondents.  -Mkini
