A bank account opened by Pekan Umno to help pay for division chief and former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's bail has reportedly been frozen.
Pekan Wanita Umno chief Zalmah Abdul Rahman said she learnt of the freeze this morning.
"This (frozen account) is only in Pekan. I don't know about other places, but this account was opened by Pekan Umno division,” Zalmah was quoted as saying by Malay Mail.
However, the main fund initiated by former Federal Territories Umno youth chief Razlan Rafii is still operational.
Razlan told Malaysiakini the latest amount of donations received can only be checked on Monday.
As of 5pm yesterday, the fund had collected donations totalling RM223,908.
The donations are meant to help Najib pay the second half of his RM1 million bail on Monday.
Najib had paid the first RM500,000 instalment on Wednesday after claiming trial to three counts of criminal breach of trust and one count of abuse of power.
This is in regards to the alleged misappopriation of funds from SRC International, a 1MDB subsidiary that was later placed under the Minister of Finance Incorporated. -Mkini
