Pakatan Harapan's candidate for the Sungai Kandis by-election will use the PKR logo, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari confirmed today.
This is despite the Registrar of Societies having approved the registration of both Harapan and the coalition's logo on May 18.
According to Amirudin, the decision was taken in a Harapan presidential council meeting.
"Harapan has chosen PKR to represent the coalition, as is the tradition, and use the party's logo in the coming by-election.
"This is because the PKR logo is quite established there (Sungai Kandis), as we have won (the seat) for three consecutive terms," he told reporters after attending a function in Batu Caves today.
However, PKR is yet to name the candidate for the by-election.
The Sungai Kandis state seat fell vacant following the death of the incumbent Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei from cancer on July 2.
The Election Commission fixed Aug 4 as the polling day while nomination day is July 21.
Umno is also mulling to use its own logo for the by-election.
The suggestion was floated by party deputy president Mohamad Hasan, in order to gauge how much support the party can garner in the current scenario, following its colossal loss in the May 9 general election.
'No decision on contesting in party polls'
Meanwhile, Amirudin said he has not made any decision on contesting for any positions in the PKR leadership election.
"There is still time, God willing, I will make a decision after discussing with friends.
"My focus is now on ensuring I can build a solid administration in Selangor, as it would also decide Harapan's fate in the coming by-election.
"There is no use in taking pride of a win in the party, but failing to defend a government we have been entrusted with," he said. - Mkini
