IGP: No request from Rosmah to return jewellery

Police have yet to receive any request from Rosmah Mansor, the wife of former premier Najib Abdul Razak, to return the jewellery impounded from the raids linked to 1MDB.
Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said she is entitled to apply for the return of the seized items but it would not be easy as the items are tied to the investigation.
"There's a legal procedure that she needs to follow if she wants to have the items returned to her. I've been following up on the investigation every day and so far, there has been no request from her or anyone (to return the items)," Fuzi said in a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.
A well-known wholesale jeweller from Lebanon filed a US$14.79 million (RM59.831 million) suit against Rosmah Mansor last month over a consignment of 44 pieces of jewellery which was sent to her in February and seized by the police in May.
Meanwhile, while commenting on Najib's claims that the Federal Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief Amar Singh did not follow standards of procedure when police raided the properties linked to him, Fuzi said it's up to Najib to claim whatever he wants.
"That's what he (Najib) claims. He can say anything. It's up to him. As for police, we follow the legal procedures," he said.
Najib is suing MACC director-general Shukri Abdull, attorney-general Tommy Thomas, and Amar Singh for allegedly being prejudiced against him in the course of their investigations into 1MDB. -Mkini
