The lead counsel says he and his client have yet to decide on legal fees.
KUALA LUMPUR: Najib Razak’s lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah has denied an Umno leader’s claim that he was charging his client RM2.4 million in the case against the former prime minister, who is facing four charges of criminal breach of trust and abuse of power.
“We have not discussed the fees yet,” the senior lawyer said, when asked about the claim by Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam.
Lokman had said that a fund set up by Umno members to help Najib meet the RM1 million bail set by the High Court last week was not enough to cover the legal fees which he estimated at about RM2.4 million.
Shafee is leading the defence team along with lawyers Harvinderjit Singh, Raj Krishnan, Farhan Read, Rahmat Hazlan and Farhan Shafee, while Attorney-General Tommy Thomas leads the 12-member prosecution team. -FMT
