Return money received from Najib's account - Kit Siang

Political parties which received funds amounting to RM470 million from the account of former premier Najib Abdul Razak in the lead up to the 13th general election, should return them to public coffers, said Lim Kit Siang today.
The DAP veteran, in a statement, also urged parliamentarians from the parties mentioned to speak up on the matter during the current Dewan Rakyat sitting.
The Iskandar Puteri MP was responding to a Malaysiakini report on its microsite this morning which revealed that BN parties, including a former component, had received a total of RM470 million, allegedly misappropriated from 1MDB, from Najib's account, through 102 transactions, between April 2012 and August 2013.
The parties implicated were Umno, MCA, MIC, Gerakan and SUPP. The latter two parties left BN following the coalition's colossal loss in the 14th general election on May 9.
According to the exposé, Umno received the lion's share, at RM417.4 million or 88.8 percent of the funds. The next biggest recipients were MIC at RM20.55 million, and MCA at RM16.5 million. The money was distributed to various party chapters, wings and even a party-owned library.
"The parties should return the RM470 million which they had (allegedly) received from 1MDB to public coffers if the revelations are true and correct.
"Umno, MCA, MIC and SUPP have MPs and they should speak up on the Malaysiakiniexposé in the current debate in Parliament on the motion of thanks for the royal address," said Lim. - Mkini
