Stop playing victim, Latheefa tells Najib

Former premier Najib Abdul Razak should stop “playing the victim” in his ongoing trial linked to the SRC International case, says PKR Supreme Council member Latheefa Koya.
“Hello Najib – these are not the old days when you could pick and choose an attorney-general who will clear you.
“Stop playing the victim,” she said on Twitter today, in response to Najib’s affidavit filed as part of his suit against attorney-general Tommy Thomas.
Najib, in his originating ex-parte summons against Thomas, has cited an article written by the latter, published in Malaysiakini two years ago, as a reason why he thinks it is prejudiced for Thomas to continue leading the prosecution in the graft case against him.
Najib said the article, titled "Grand Larceny in 1MDB" concluded that money had entered his account.
"Thomas' stand is clear that he does not like me, as portrayed in the article, and this causes concern that he may find ways to prefer a charge against me for any reason,” he said.
When contacted, Latheefa pointed out that Thomas as lead prosecutor, in this case, has no say on the final decision and as such, the issue of his alleged prejudice towards Najib should not arise.
“It is not a situation where the AG will decide whether Najib is guilty or not. He (Thomas) will still have to bring all evidence, show the documents (in court) and all that.
“Najib says the AG does not like him. But the issue of whether the AG likes him or otherwise does not arise in this case,” the PKR lawyer told Malaysiakini.
Najib, through his lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, is also seeking for Thomas to be removed from leading the prosecution team.
It was reported on Friday that Najib had filed three separate suits against Thomas, MACC chief commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull and the federal police's Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Amar Singh.
The suits were filed on June 30. -Mkini
