More than 120 lawyers will be on standby at the gathering against the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Icerd) on Saturday.
Programme coordinator Kamaruzaman Mohamad said the team will be present to ensure the rally proceeds in a smooth manner and proceeds within the rules.
"The lawyers will be spread throughout the gathering spots. So far, about 120 lawyers have registered themselves to be on standby on the day.
"We provided legal assistance at a time when the gathering did not have the approval of the authorities but now that it has been greenlit, we are still providing legal help," he said when contacted today.
Kamaruzaman urged all rally participants to abide by the rules.
"I, as the programme organiser, would like to urge the participants to look after their safety, maintain cleanliness and take care of public property," he said.
Yesterday, Kamaruzaman confirmed that former premier Najib Abdul Razak would be attending and the organisers also invited Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and PKR president Anwar Ibrahim to the gathering set to take place along Jalan Raja in Kuala Lumpur.
Kamaruzaman said the gathering was not targetting other races but at “traitors” who sought to change what is enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
PAS has estimated a turnout of more than 500,000 for the gathering. - Mkini
