Abu Kassim: A-G’s office told MACC some things missing in 1MDB audit report

Former MACC chief Abu Kassim Mohamed.
PUTRAJAYA: Former anti-graft chief Abu Kassim Mohamed today revealed the auditor-general’s office had informed them that “some things were not published” in the auditor-general’s report on 1MDB.
“There was an occasion when they tried to brief us on something that was not published,” he told reporters after an anti-corruption function in Putrajaya.
“We were trying to get the original audit report but I did speak to the auditor-general about it.”
He said due to that, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) took steps to further probe the case. MACC is still probing the case, calling up witnesses.
Abu was asked if he was involved in the probe into the A-G’s report on 1MDB. He headed MACC from 2010 to 2016.
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is now in the midst of probing former auditor-general Ambrin Buang, 1MDB CEO Arul Kanda, former chief secretary to the government Ali Hamsa, and former prime minister Najib Razak over alleged tampering of the A-G’s report on 1MDB.
In November, A-G Madinah Mohamad had alleged that Najib, among others, had tampered with the 1MDB audit report prepared by then A-G Ambrin Buang.
Ambrin has denied the allegation.
