PAS and Umno will have to unite for the sake of Malays and the fundamental principles of Islam, said PAS Youth chief Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi.
Khalil said that PAS must cooperate with anyone who supports the same principle.
“We call PAS as PAS, Umno as Umno, but we can be together in matters related to policies and principles.
“We as PAS are Muslims, Umno are also Muslims, then we must be together in matters relating to the principle of defending Islam and the rights of Malays and Bumiputeras in our country,” he was quoted as saying in Harakahdaily.

Khalil, who is the son of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, added objection against the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) was the cause of consolidation because the UN convention undermined the rights of the Malays and Islam.
“The ICERD issue is very disturbing as it can disrupt Islam as a federal religion in our country.
“Unfortunately we see the Islamic parties in Pakatan Harapan are not doing anything,” he said.
Khalil said that opposing ICERD did not mean that the party hated other religions but was only protecting the rights on the Malays.
“We fight for our rights (the Malays) we do not to hate the Chinese, Indians, Christians, Buddhists and Hindus, they are free to practise their religion.
“This is the extreme politics that happens in the PH government today. Especially from the point of abandoning Islamic rights and Muslims little by little. This disturbs Islamic institutions,” he said.
