Arul Kanda arrested after arriving at MACC

Former 1MDB CEO Arul Kanda Kandasamy has been arrested by the MACC.

He was arrested shortly after arriving at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya at around 10am today for questioning.

Sporting a black cap, a light blue shirt and a backpack, Arul Kanda smiled at the press as he made his way into the MACC building.

Arul Kanda was summoned to the MACC today over the alleged tampering of the auditor-general's report on 1MDB.

Also spotted at the MACC headquarters was former chief secretary to the government Ali Hamsa, dressed in a coat and blue tie.

Both men were involved in discussions with the auditor-general's office before the publication of the 1MDB audit report.

The previous BN administration had sealed the report under the Official Secrets Act upon its release, but it later declassified by the new Pakatan Harapan government.

The report was missing key details about 1MDB, but certain sections corroborated claims by the US Department of Justice of misappropriation in 1MDB.
