Police have warned against provocations and seditious speeches during Saturday's gathering against the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Icerd).
"We will take action against rallygoers who provoke and cause public disorder... and speakers whose speeches are deemed seditious will be investigated under the Sedition Act," said Kuala Lumpur police Mazlan Lazim.
He also advised those attending the gathering not to bring children along.
Speaking at a press conference at the city police headquarters this evening, Mazlan said the organisers would be called if the gathering, which starts at 2pm, does not end at 6pm.
He also announced that six roads leading to Dataran Merdeka would be closed - Jalan Hishamuddin (near the tunnel), Jalan Leboh Pasar (near the OCBC bank), Jalan Tun Perak (near Masjid Jamek LRT station), Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman (near Sogo), Jalan Raja Laut (near the Summit hotel) and the Dato Onn roundabout.
"These roads will be closed at 6am on Saturday," he added.
The organisers of the gathering are the Gerakan Pembela Ummah (Ummah), Pertubuhan Muafakat Sejahtera Masyarakat Malaysia (Muafakat), and Persatuan Bekas Angkatan Tentera Tidak Berpencen Malaysia (Daulat).
Citing possible racial tension, various quarters had called for the gathering to be cancelled since the government has decided not to ratify Icerd.
The organisers have denied that the gathering would target other races while PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang assured that it would be peaceful.
PAS is expecting more than 500,000 to attend the gathering, which is also backed by Umno. - Mkini
