I won’t quit as PAC chairman yet, says Kiandee

KOTA KINABALU: Beluran MP Ronald Kiandee says he will not resign as the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman although he had resigned from Umno.
“I will be doing injustice to PAC if I vacate the seat now when Parliament is not in session.
“Once the chairman resigns, the PAC committee cannot call for a meeting. I will leave the decision to the prime minister,” he told reporters here today.
Kiandee was part of the mass exodus of Sabah Umno elected representatives and leaders today. They will stay as independents for the moment but have pledged support for the Pakatan Harapan and the state government.
Meanwhile, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) deputy president Arthur Joseph Kurup said he will be joining this group leaving Sabah Umno.
“I am here as a member of PBRS to show support to this group. So while they are leaving the party, I’m bringing our party with them.
“We are also supporting the government,” said the Pensiangan MP.
PBRS president Joseph Kurup had initially announced that the party had left the Barisan Nasional following the May 9 polls but in September insisted the party had not officially left the ruling coalition. -FMT
